When you create a "mapname.res", the HLBox17b does not consider the detailed textures files:
maps/mapname_detail.txt
gfx/detail/texturefile1.tga
gfx/detail/texturefile2.tga
...

Without them the map of poor quality:






Maps using high-quality texture, for example:

This really is a great tool, very impressive! Nice work Chapo.

I have a home server with 1500 HLDM maps on it that Ive been accumulating the past 10 years. I no longer had any of the original zipped files.

This tool saved the day. Instead of taking 2 months to manually try and put all the maps and related files back into their related directories and zipping them, this does all the work for me in about 25 minutes. smile.gif

1) Afterwards, I unpacked all the newly zipped files and did a "search" for all files named "xeno.wad, liquids.wad, halflife.wad" and deleted them all at once.

2) I re-zipped everything again into zip folders using the highest compression on winrar utility (made zip not rar)

This is couple extra steps but I didnt want all those default wad files in the folders, they are not needed. (When zipping them the first time using hlbox you must check the box in settings to include wads because some maps have custom wad files that are necessary, just have to delete the default wads afterwards)

I have a question: Is there a way to include mapname.jpg files in the zips? I have map screenshots of all the maps and want to include them inside the maps/ subdirectory for each zip. Any ideas? It will take too much time to manually cut and paste all the jpg files into each map's directory. All my jpg files are same name as maps. For example boot.bsp has a file called boot.jpg. I want to put it in boot/maps subdirectory. I want to do this with all 1500 maps.

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

C'est vraiment un très bon outil, très impressionnant! Belle travail Chapo.

J'ai un serveur à la maison avec 1500 cartes HLDM sur ce que Ive été accumulées ces 10 dernières années. Je n'avais plus aucun des fichiers compressés d'origine.

Cet outil a sauvé la journée. Au lieu de prendre 2 mois pour essayer de mettre la main toutes les cartes et les fichiers associés de nouveau dans leurs répertoires connexes et les passer comme un éclair, ce qui fait tout le travail pour moi en 25 minutes environ. smile.gif

1) Par la suite, j'ai déballé tous les fichiers nouvellement zippées et a fait une «fouille» pour tous les fichiers nommés "xeno.wad, liquids.wad, halflife.wad" et les supprimer tous à la fois.

2) Je re-zippé tout nouveau dans des dossiers zip en utilisant la compression le plus élevé sur l'utilité winrar (zip fait pas rar)

C'est un couple des étapes supplémentaires, mais je ne voulais pas tous les fichiers wad par défaut dans les dossiers, ils ne sont pas nécessaires. (Lorsque les passer comme un éclair la première fois à l'aide hlbox vous devez cocher la case dans les paramètres à inclure liasses parce que certains ont des cartes wad personnalisés qui sont nécessaires, suffit de supprimer les liasses par défaut par la suite)

J'ai une question: Y at-il un moyen d'inclure des fichiers dans les mapname.jpg zips? J'ai screenshots carte de toutes les cartes et que vous voulez les inclure à l'intérieur des cartes sous-répertoire / pour chaque zip. Toutes les idées? Il faudra trop de temps pour couper et coller manuellement tous les fichiers jpg dans le répertoire de chaque carte. Tous mes fichiers jpg sont même nom que des cartes. Par exemple boot.bsp dispose d'un fichier appelé boot.jpg. Je veux le mettre dans le coffre / maps sous-répertoire. Je veux faire cela avec toutes les cartes 1500.

Toute aide ou des conseils seraient très appréciés.

You can automaticaly add custom files to your archive.
To do so, you just have to move files in xxx/mapname folder, where xxx is the name of your "misc" folder.

When zipping file, HLBox will scan this folder and add all usefull files (no exe nor dll, ...) to archive.

I can plan to automatically add screens files when in root dir (bmp for 1.6 or jpg for source) but it will take some time.

I can plan to automaticaly convert bmp to jpeg before adding them to archive.

Awesome! This will especially help us server operators who have been collecting map screenshots for 10 years and have them laying loose inside the root. Now when running this utility, the screenshots were automatically found and archived into the maps subdirectories.

I will improve this feature soon and allow user to specify if he wants to add screens or not, adding a specific folder for screens and allow to convert bmp to jpeg.

It seems that Hlbox doesn't work anymore since last update. It crashes during packing operation.

I think that code has problem with new acf files structure and common folder hierarchy and I must now work on new steam files system in order to learn how it works and how I can fix bugs.

Don't worry, project is not abandonned and I will upload a new working release of HLBox soon.

It would seem ResGen tool on this version is broken.
When analysing map, you get :

5:         Read header...Success
6:             HL1 file (version 30) detected
7:             ERROR: Version differs from mod


I don't remember the version has changed.
It happens for all maps.

In this topic, a member notified me of bug with res files with UTF8 encoding.

Problem was fixed but there was still problem with existing files

So, there are lot of maps on 17buddies that have been "resgen" with old version of HLBox when it was bugged, before version 3.8.0.1 dated 05-12-2013 (we're now in version 5 for those who haven't updated HLBox)

It's now fixed since a long time, but maps on 17b have still bugged .res files in archives.

I didn't take the time to fix that. It's now done.

I have scanned all archives yesterday, searching for bugged .res files and I could find almost 9500 of them (exactly 9289).

As I don't want to rescan all files and create res file for each of them (it could lead to server overload) i have modified my download scripts in order to updated files smoothly.

Now, when you download a file, my scripts check if resgen needs to be fixed (indicator was installed yesterday during scan).

. If no, there is no modification and file is send to you as usual.

. If yes, a new resgen is made "on the fly" and archive is fixed just before being send to you.

This will allow me to repair each file progressively without creating server overload.

This works for download, install, HLBox and preview.
