I'm quite disappointed to be honest;
only a little regarding my ranking but mostly considering the results in general and how they are presented overall.
People have been mapping for 2 months and all they get from the judges is a small chart which only provides very little and vague information about how well they did in the contest.
Map reviews by every judge for every single entry would have been way better (divided in categories such as details/gameplay/design/style/textures/ and so on) in my opinion.
The current system isn't helping people to improve since they still do not know which mistakes they made and what things they should change respectively.
Furthermore we all spent quite a lot of time creating, designing and planning the maps and therefore the judges should at least spent as much time needed to appreciate the authors' works, which means they should take their time to not only rate the entries roughly but to consider them in detail and show it in an appropriate review.
Just my two cents...
Obviously I wasn't one of the judges, but here's some feedback if you want!
Pros:
- Nice clean brushwork and texturing. You mentioned in another post that you wanted to put more detail in, but I don't think it needs much more.
- Feels like a playable, competitive layout to me...although I haven't actually played it with other people!
- Clearly fits in with the theme of the contest with sandy textures and light streaming through doorways/windows.
- You entered the contest late so you pulled off a really nice map in a very short time. I suppose this couldn't be taken into consideration during judging for fairness, but it's still impressive!
Cons:
- No interior lighting. I think this seriously hurts the playability of the map - I'm kind of surprised you didn't just throw in some point lights as a last minute compromise!
- No signs/decals to lead players to the bomb sites.
- No overview.
- Bomb sites are stacks of crates. This isn't really an issue for most CS players, but it always irritates me slighty
