I must say that the judges pretty much nailed the results...good job
I had a good prediction that de_kassai will get the top spot but couldn't post until after the contest ended...congratulations Warri. This is not to say that the other entries were not up to the level; on the contrary, pretty much all submissions were high quality maps, but in the end, there could only be one winner (IMG:http://forum.17buddies.rocks/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Good luck to everyone in the next contest and Chapo...keep up the good work Will2k |

This is my first contest win ever and I wanna thank everybody here for the opportunity to do so. Great job, all of you. (IMG:http://forum.17buddies.rocks/style_emoticons/default/icon_kimouss.gif) Since I don't have anything to advertise for, I'd like to give my prize to Max (von A), because I think he'd beaten me by long if it hadn't been for his bad luck. Chapo, please make sure you invite me to the next contest, this was really fun. And keep 'em coming! |

I'm quite disappointed to be honest;
only a little regarding my ranking but mostly considering the results in general and how they are presented overall. People have been mapping for 2 months and all they get from the judges is a small chart which only provides very little and vague information about how well they did in the contest. Map reviews by every judge for every single entry would have been way better (divided in categories such as details/gameplay/design/style/textures/ and so on) in my opinion. The current system isn't helping people to improve since they still do not know which mistakes they made and what things they should change respectively. Furthermore we all spent quite a lot of time creating, designing and planning the maps and therefore the judges should at least spent as much time needed to appreciate the authors' works, which means they should take their time to not only rate the entries roughly but to consider them in detail and show it in an appropriate review. Just my two cents... This post has been edited by m0535: 27/06/2012 - 19:45:10 |

You're right m0535.
Chart provided is a summary of other parameters. We can explain each of them but i have no time this evening and i'm not there tomorrow, but we will do it (IMG:http://forum.17buddies.rocks/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

QUOTE (m0535 @ 27/06/2012 - 19:41:40) I'm quite disappointed to be honest; only a little regarding my ranking but mostly considering the results in general and how they are presented overall. People have been mapping for 2 months and all they get from the judges is a small chart which only provides very little and vague information about how well they did in the contest. Just my two cents... Obviously I wasn't one of the judges, but here's some feedback if you want! Pros: - Nice clean brushwork and texturing. You mentioned in another post that you wanted to put more detail in, but I don't think it needs much more. - Feels like a playable, competitive layout to me...although I haven't actually played it with other people! - Clearly fits in with the theme of the contest with sandy textures and light streaming through doorways/windows. - You entered the contest late so you pulled off a really nice map in a very short time. I suppose this couldn't be taken into consideration during judging for fairness, but it's still impressive! Cons: - No interior lighting. I think this seriously hurts the playability of the map - I'm kind of surprised you didn't just throw in some point lights as a last minute compromise! - No signs/decals to lead players to the bomb sites. - No overview. - Bomb sites are stacks of crates. This isn't really an issue for most CS players, but it always irritates me slighty (IMG:http://forum.17buddies.rocks/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

(IMG:http://forum.17buddies.rocks/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) To me the judges's ratings simply appear unsubstantial since there are no reasons mentioned which support the results. |

I know that not everyone is happy with the results. But after all, judges are judges... if they decided the result, it should remain the same, although... I've seen other maps among contestants that could deserved to be in the first 3 places. Anyway... its their word, not ours. Congrats to participants... you deserve our gratitude guys, keep mapping!

I want to thank you for this great gesture like that fills me with emotion (IMG:http://forum.17buddies.rocks/style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) . You are a great mapper and this award affirms On the other hand, if I had won the prize would have put the community website for my clan (comunidadupc.com) to properly put my "ex-clan" because after 7 years leave the "rudder" of the community by some internal differences with my ex-comrades administrators (I have a "strong personality" (IMG:http://forum.17buddies.rocks/style_emoticons/default/blush.gif) , lol). Now visit the page in my community as a member. And I'm connected to other things, like making a new map. Not to say, thank you for your recognition and I'm here for anything you need, my English is not very good as you'll see (it's not if he understood some of what I wrote lol). PS: apologies for the lateness of the response. PSS: anyways if you want to pubish comunidadupc.com, a lot of friends will be happy! This post has been edited by Max (von A): 04/07/2012 - 01:39:12 |
