Hi all,

While trying to find any author info of the remaining byplt-authored maps, I've stumbled upon a handful of them that give me some doubt about their actual creator due to various reasons.

Below is a list accompanied with some small explanation per situation.

Text file on 17Buddies lists "PeTrOs9n" as author rather than the currently chosen "BOEHKOMAT". "PeTrOs9n" is also the one that is displayed at GameBanana.

"China", "GAO", or "China ,GAO"
Is China the country or is it part of the author name? And is GAO part of the author name or is it from a server ( see link below that line )?

"d4zo." or "unknown"
First one received all credit if we read the text file but there were a decent amout of changes been done to, imo, give authorship to the remaker who sadly remains unknown.

"Hazzord YT9" or "Ghost1716606"
On both comparisons is "Hazzord YT9" credited on 17Buddies and "Ghost1716606" on Gamebanana. But on the 17Buddies version of as_sluipmoord, inside the text file we can read "MAP : de_welkomin". So either the mapper took a copy of one of his already existing text files and forgot to change the contents of that file or the person who uploaded took the wrong text file. The second being unlikely as it also requires a manual change of the filename itself.

"Adam Sinclair" ( = "Cha Siu Fan"? )
On both maps inside the text file can we see "(Glock18)" behind the author name. I presume this can be treated as an "aka"? If yes then "Cha Siu Fan" & "Adam Sinclair" are the same person if the info inside thet text files is correct.

"Manu"
First 3 screenshots of gg_am_ramp display Spanish words while the text file of gg_courtyard shows english, both crediting "Manu".

"zink"
First map credits "zink", visible in the first screenshot & in the text file, second map is just an existing map with the same author name as reference to which mapper it might be.

First map has "-220645" added to the name while the second one has not. Note that one of the files of the GameBanana version is named "save-CS_HQ-220645.txt". P.s.: We can ignore the fact the first map is uploaded in the 1.6 category & the second one in cz as they share the same game engine. In other words: the maps can still be identical while being in different sub mods.

Unpwnable.
Is (s)he really the author or did (s)he erroneously filled in the author field? My suspicion got raised by the small text provided on the GameBanana version probably by the submitter? Plus the fact the submitter's name is part of the mapname.

1. BOEHKOMAT. I prefer text file name to reduce confusion. GB username can be edited easily by profile owners without restrictions similar to Steam. Or include both names in the author field like "BOEHKOMAT aka PeTrOs9n".

2. GAO - they have made many other maps, they are from China.

3. "Unknown" due to substantial changes done, d4zo still mentioned in readme so no harm done and original author still referred to.

4. Ghost1716606 is Hazzord YT9 as well. The GB username is "anonymized" as the user scrubbed or erased their GB account. Hence the differences, you can check their GB profile to see 5-6 different maps which they have indeed created and received feedback on.

5. Marmelo. Same logic as #1.

6. Martee - Preferring remake author only due to 1 author field available on 17B, original author can be mentioned in comments/readme.

7. dm_tacere - Originally submitted here - https://csm.dev/threads/dm_tacere.38870/, based on site and language, probably Ukraine but could be German who knows Russian as well.

8. Cha Siu Fan / Adam Sinclair / Glock18 are the same guy, I know him personally. He has edited username many times on GB.

9. Manu

10. Zink

11. Looks like same map, file sizes match.

12. Unpwnable is indeed the creator of their own map.

For zm_hs_funworld_v2, Nymph18 seems to be the remaker. You can even see his name in the thumbnail image.

zm_fun_world_b seems to be the same as zm_fun_world_2, so you should set the author as -d4z0'. for both of those.

Do you happen to know any of the nationalities of the following mappers?
1) Hazzord YT9
2) Marmelo
3) Manu
4) Anonymeme
5) Unpwnable.

Also, I know zink is the author. My question was more: Is it the same person as the one in the second link? If not, do you know what country (s)he is from?

https://www.17buddies.rocks/17b2/View/Map/113205/zm_hs_funworld_v2.html & https://gamebanana.com/mods/413801 are different maps. Look at the 17b mainscreen of the v2 version. It clearly differs from the first screenshot of the v3 version. Mainly the color of the text & set text itself.
If you look closer at the left side of the mainscreen of the v2 version, it has steps leading towards what seems to be some sort of vent. The v3 version has a slope instead.
All this is only true if the screens are matching the uploaded map. I might install both maps later to be 100% sure.

As for https://gamebanana.com/mods/88411 & https://www.17buddies.rocks/17b2/View/Map/58094/zm_fun_world_b.html. They indeed seem to be the same map but it's still no certainty -d4z0. is the mapper. It all depends on how the, seemingly remaker of the map ( hazik666 ), treats/views authorship. We also have no idea who or why -d4z0.'s name stamped on the first screenshot of the GameBanana version. While still, funnily enough, giving credit to himself.
Unless he is not the remaker. But even then we have no clue, only judging by 2 different databases, if it's a remake or not.

P.s.: Please only focus on the byplt maps I've posted in this thread ( the second comparison you highlighted were not from the OP ).
Since the ability has been gone for regular users to edit the summary, I'll make a new thread for any future author-finds those type of users encounter.

I forgot one.

"Dizz" or "noNameCat"
Text file on 17Buddies mentions "Dizz" as author, but "noNameCat" is given credit on GameBanana. If it is indeed noNameCat, the country is Ukraine.

@qoLmE I didn't say they are the same map. Both main screens say the author is Nymph and they are similar enough to presume v3 is just a newer version by the same author.

Also how can hazik666 have created the map when the main screen clearly says it's by d4z0? It's easy to list yourself as creator for no reason. It's harder to create your own main screen. Nonewhere does it say it's a remake either.

I don't know if you installed the 17Buddies version to acknowledge "Nymph" being displayed but if you didn't: You have some seriously good eyes man.
I had to install the map to check and indeed in both cases it's the same author. I should have checked myself before putting it in this list. Again my bad...


As any more info is absent, the most likely outcome is what you just said.
Noone is gonna make a banner over a screenshot with a false authorship claim. Technically it's possible but what are the benefits in the first place for any uploader to do so?
Besides, who says the screenshots were uploaded by the submitter? I don't know any GameBanana features but maybe you must always include at least 1 screenshot when submitting a map ( or mod as it is listed as such on that site ).
On 17Buddies you can submit even without a mainscreen, let alone additional ones.

And like you said, much easier to erroneously fill in the author field than to alter screens...
Upon retrieving the lost authors of the byplt maps, I've stumbled upon a few examples on GameBanana where the "Creator" field was obviously mistaken for keywords ( for searching purposes ) by the submitter.

Dizz v/s NoNameCat, that's easy, their profile on GB indicates they made a few more maps so Dizz just appears to be an alias name. https://gamebanana.com/members/1745595. You can just pick any one name and set country to Ukraine.

Allright, set the last mentioned map's author to noNameCat with Ukraine as country + picked Denmark as country for "zink" as the rest will be transferred over to the mainlist.
