Forum 17B _ Miscellaneous _ Hlbox17b Download - Virus?

Posted by: rcwkaw 20/01/2025 - 16:36:25

When I try to download HLBox17b, my browser blocked the download saying it contains malware. I downloaded it once anyway, ran a scan on the zip file, and it came back as containing a trojan so I quarantined it.

Any info on the safety of this download?

Thanks!

Most likely a false positive, virustotal.com shows 1 positive.

The code is available to compile yourself.

If your browser flagged HLBox17b and your scan found a trojan, it's a solid sign that you should steer clear of that download. It's not uncommon for some files to get flagged as malware, especially if they're from sketchy sources or have a bad rep.

Always better to be safe than sorry, right? If you’re looking for alternatives, maybe check out some trusted forums or communities that focus on what you need. They might have safer options or even legit versions of what you’re after. And hey, keep those antivirus updates rolling! Stay safe out there!

HLBox17b, often associated with game mods or emulation software, has raised red flags in multiple reports for containing malware, specifically Trojans. Your scan confirming a Trojan aligns with this.
